THREE ARCHES HOME: Garage Conversion & Second-Story Addition

 The Three Arches Residence is a Georgia home addition and residential renovation project that combines a garage conversion with a new second-story addition. At ground level, the garage conversion creates a generous screened porch connected to both the existing house and the backyard. Above, the second-story addition accommodates a primary bedroom, walk-in closet, bathroom, and laundry while allowing most of the original single-story home to remain intact.

The main design challenge was introducing a substantial two-story volume without overwhelming the low, horizontal proportions of the existing house. The original white brick façade and main roof remain visually prominent, while a simple front-facing gable and horizontal siding help the new home addition feel distinct but still connected to the original architecture.

Three arched brick openings transform the former garage frontage and give the residence its name. The result is a carefully integrated Georgia home renovation that adds valuable living space and a new screened outdoor area while preserving the character of the original house.
